Part of an ongoing series this piece is about layering and the surface treatment of stone and the idea that deep cutting can add an extra dimension. It evolved from attempting to recreate cubist type of feeling on a flat surface in a more three dimensional way. As a contrast the very shallow ‘picked’ lettering around the edges makes a frame and is a quotation from Juan Gris. 2004
