Amongst our more private commissions are memorials and cremation stones. These are individually designed just as all our work is. All the lettering is hand drawn and hand carved. A meeting is advisable - either at the studio here in Amersham, or at your home.
We have a wide variety of British stone and slate samples and examples of different carved lettering to look at which helps in discussing all the possible choices. After the meeting we produce a scale drawing of the memorial and an estimate for the work, without obligation on your part. Often drawings are amended several times in order to arrive at a fitting design which pleases both you and us.
When we are agreed we order the stone from the quarry. We will deal with cemetery and churchyard permits and arrange the fixing of the memorial stone. As all memorials are unique it is very difficult to give estimates. On the whole our simpler stones are no more expensive than the commercially made ones.
